A Shnnoogle Story

Our readers occasionally send us a story full of love and kindness where someone has helped another and that is a Shnnoogle Story.

This is how Shnnoogle’s light grows brighter and brighter...

When we arrived to Mexico at our friends (Juan and Marias) home this winter, we were devastated to witness the weathered one room shack they had come to call home. Originally a family of four, with two children of their own Esmeralda and Ela, they had grown into a family of six. Maria’s sister, having recently passed away from cancer leaving behind her two children, Juanita and Alberto, had been openly absorbed into the family’s fold. Dirty faced and heat exhausted our friends lived without running water or electricity.

Due to the extreme economic down turn, Juan (their father) had resorted to farm work far away. For two years he had remained too far to even visit. His efforts gained him the ability to send home a small pitence to feed his family.

Horrified and moved to tears over the witnessing of our friends extreme dire straits we called on our Shnnoogle’s. We decided we would do a monthly food drive from our home in Phoenix Arizona to theirs in Puerto Penasco Mexico.

The first time we made this food run, our hearts were warmed and humbled beyond belief by the depth of unbridled love we experienced and the witnessing of how our unforseen act of kindness grew wings and soared to new hieghts.

When we arrived with several bags of food Maria and her children, Esmeralda, Ela, Juanita and Alberto, all came rushing out of their humble home, eyes filled with thankful tears. Then something even more amazing happened, the children turned and rushed off to call on their neighbors families, who had also shared in their poverty, openly inviting all to come join them and share in this wonderful bounty as they handed out canned goods to extended hungry hands. This experience taught myself and my family the true joy of sharing our Shnnoogle and the realization of heart riches that far surpass money...We were filled and blessed by the bouny of lightness and joy from this experience. We continue to do this same food ritual monthly, and for this act of kindness our lives have grown richer. I write this today believing we all need and crave a little touch of love and Kindness. We all need a little touch of Shnnoogle.
